Academics

The Office of Graduate Program Services is the administrative centre for all aspects of students' academic life. You may also use WebAdvisor (webadvisor.uoguelph.ca) for a number of services including: Academic counselling; address changes; admission counselling; Advisory Committee/Degree Program Forms; Confirmation of Enrollment; course selection (in-person); drop/add (in person); external transcript evaluation; financial counselling; new student registration; problem resolution; receipt of payments for transcripts, tuition and other fees, T2202A forms; thesis submission and binding; transcript preparation; University Health Insurance Program (UHIP) management.

The Office of Graduate Program Services is found on Level 3 of the University Centre and the office hours are Monday to Friday 8:30 to 4:30 September until May and 8:30 to 4:15 June through August.

Welcome to graduate studies at the University of Guelph! For those of you who are returning, welcome back. We in the Faculty of Graduate Studies take great pride in our graduate programs, which cover the full range of disciplines in the arts and humanities, social sciences, natural and physical sciences, agriculture, and veterinary science. We particularly value our longstanding collaboration with the Graduate Students' Association in the development of effective graduate policies and the delivery of high quality programs. If at any time in your program you need advice or help to solve a problem, please give either the GSA or Graduate Programs Services a call and we will do our best to help.

Academic Integrity

All new University of Guelph graduate students will be enrolled in UNIV 7100*Academic Integrity for Graduate Students. Additional information about why academic integrity is important and how not to plagiarize can be found on the Library’s website under Plagiarism and Academic Integrity and on the University of Guelph’s website Understanding Plagiarism & Academic Integrity, which provides tutorials, quizzes, and an interactive summary-writing exercise that allow students to test their understanding of the rules and expectations of academic writing.

Learning Commons

The Library’s Learning Commons provides a comprehensive array of services for graduate students in time and project management, presentation skills, group work, writing and referencing, library research, data management, and information technology.

Individual consultations, workshops, specialized services for TAs and EAL students, and print and web resources are designed to enhance the academic and professional skills vital for advanced study.

Librarians

Librarians provide a range of services including acquiring information resources for classes, reserve materials, or individual research interests. They’re also available to consult with graduate students regarding their information and research needs (including data and scholarly publishing) and can provide in-class workshops for graduate and undergraduate students related to a variety of library and information research skills.
